The chemotherapy procedures are doing their job and destroying the bad cells. In order to do so, the therapy also temporarily depletes the good cells until they can be built back up. Nicholas is currently neutropenic which means his white blood count has bottomed out and he is very susceptible to bacteria, infections, viruses, etc. For this reason, the doctors do not want any visitors inside his room until his counts improve. This usually takes a few days, last time his white counts bounced back in about 48 hours. Guests are always welcome to come to the hospital if they are not sick and have not been around anyone who may be sick. It is just not safe practice to allow any outside influences into his room until he is ready. Thank you for your consideration.
